This Sheffield Wednesday star has been in talks with two teams over a potential January exit from South Yorkshire.
Two players have already left Sheffield Wednesday this month, whilst two new faces have arrived.
John Buckley and Tyreeq Bakinson moved on whilst James Beadle and Ike Ugbo arrived, and whilst more names look set to arrive at Hillsborough in the coming weeks, some more look set to move on too.
And one who looks set to part ways with the club is AC Milan loan player Devis Vasquez.
He’s yet to play under Danny Rohl despite being one of the Owls’ better players under former boss Xisco Munoz, with Beadle’s recent arrival all but confirming Wednesday’s plans to terminate the 25-year-old’s loan spell.
Sheffield Wednesday man Devis Vasquez poised for return to Italy
Although there’s no official confirmation that Milan have ended Vasquez’s loan spell at Wednesday, journalist Luca Bianchin, who writes for La Gazzetta dello Sport, revealed on X that Vasquez’s loan spell has been terminated.
Bianchin also adds that Vasquez has been in ‘dialogues’ with Italian duo Ascoli and Lecce over a potential loan move for the second half of this season.
A premature end to an unfortunate loan spell
If Rohl had never have come in, Vasquez would surely be Sheffield Wednesday’s no.1 still.
He was one of the few who gave impressive performances during that dire start to the campaign, in games against Leeds United and Ipswich Town in particular; Barry Bannan hailed Vasquez as ‘brilliant’ following the draw with Leeds.
But the rot couldn’t continue. Munoz had to replaced and Rohl has completely transformed the fortunes of Sheffield Wednesday this season.
There’s complete trust in Rohl though his decision to bring back Cameron Dawson has left some divided, with Dawson having come under quite strong criticism since coming back into the XI.
Vasquez is clearly well-regarded by Milan and he’ll hopefully go on to fulfil his potential, which Sheffield Wednesday fans definitely saw signs of during his nine Championship outings for the club.
Now it’s down to Beadle and Dawson to fight for the no.1 spot.
Beadle was benched for his opening game away at Southampton; it would’ve been a tough game for Beadle to come into given his inexperience.
But he seems to suit Rohl’s style of play a bit better with Beadle being better-able to pass the ball out from the back, and so it could just be a matter of time before the Brighton man is given his first start for Sheffield Wednesday.
