Sheffield Wednesday lost 1-0 at home to Ipswich Town in the Championship yesterday.

Sheffield Wednesday suffered their fifth defeat of the Championship campaign yesterday, losing 1-0 at home to the high-flying Ipswich Town.

It was another turgid performance from Xisco Munoz’s side who failed to test Vaclav Hladky in the Ipswich goal.

But Wednesday goalkeeper Devis Vasquez had plenty to do; the 25-year-old pulled off a string of impressive saves to keep the score at 1-0, earning widespread praise after the game.

Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday fans took to Twitter to praise the man on loan from AC Milan, and here’s what some of them had to say:

@gazzal_owl: No shots on target at home, simply not good enough. Vasquez only stand out performer for me, says it all really!

@Josh42_xo: It’s a big indictment of Xiscoball, that Vasquez has to play like prime Manuel Neuer just for us to only lose 1 nil

@_ae19_: If it wasn’t for Devis Vasquez that would have been 5-0.

@Joshswfc6: we’d easily be bottom without vasquez rayt keeper shame everything in front of him just spirals really

@J_swfc1867: Vasquez the only player who can have any credit from todays game if it wasn’t for him making excellent saves it would have been 5/6-0

@h_swfc: that’s 5-0 if not for vasquez. he’s class

@swfcrcb: Vasquez was brilliant, that’s why we got him. The worrying bit, is how easily we were cut open – each save was from one on one situations when our defence was cut open, & not individual brilliance from Ipswich.
