Another attacking name on the Owls’ radar is Scott Wright at Rangers; it’s said that Wright is expected to leave Ibrox this summer and that Sheffield Wednesday have spoke with Wright’s representatives.
The 26-year-old has become surplus to requirements in Scotland, but Wright was spotted on Rangers’ pre-season tour of the Netherlands earlier this summer.
Derby County and Preston North End join Sheffield Wednesday in Scott Wright transfer chase
It’s now been revealed that Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship rivals Derby County and Preston North End have joined the race to sign Wright this summer.
Journalist Darren Witcoop has confirmed that Wright is ‘due to leave Rangers this summer’ and that the Championship is his likeliest destination.
Witcoop adds that Derby and Preston, along with Sheffield Wednesday ‘have all made enquiries’ but that all clubs ‘have other options’ in the transfer market.
Wright also has interest from abroad. Witcoop posted on X:

Wright certainly seems like a player Sheffield Wednesday are very interested in, with his links emerging earlier in the summer.
And the fact that they’ve persisted may suggest that the Owls are working hard behind the scenes on getting this deal done, along with a deal for Dembele who’s clearly another player of interest.
But links to Dembele and Wright growing stronger may suggest that a potential return for Ian Poveda is becoming less likely.
A return for Poveda would’ve gone down very well with fans, though there was obvious question marks over his fitness and whether he could play all that many games in a full season of playing Rohl football.
Wright remains an experienced player with 211 career appearances to his name, and with Rangers seemingly wanting rid of him, he may not break the bank for Sheffield Wednesday.
But they’ll have to act fast to beat Derby and Preston to the deal.
