One Sheffield Wednesday player put in an inspired performance against QPR.
The mood in-and-around Hillsborough was one lacking optimism following Sheffield Wednesday’s inability to get a win against QPR.
The Owls drew 1-1, with Barry Bannan’s late spectacular finish from outside the box being cancelled out by a goalmouth scramble that was eventually converted by the visitors, leaving Sheffield Wednesday 20th in the league.
Once again, the game showcased the same issues of the attackers struggling to find their finishing touch, and a lack of confidence amongst the ranks, which Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass has put down to the difficulty of playing at Hillsborough.
Whilst there were few positives to take from the game, one of Danny Rohl’s five game changes proved to make a difference, and one of which could potentially cement his spot in the side after a solid showing against QPR.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Marvin Johnson could cement spot in Danny Rohl’s plans
Sheffield Wednesday wing-back Marvin Johnson had a positive showing at Hillsborough in the 1-1 draw against QPR.
He was offered the opportunity after a difficult start to life in S6 for former Sheffield United defender Max Lowe, who replaced Johnson in the 89th minute, only to give away a free-kick in the lead up to QPR winning the decisive corner in the 96th minute.
Johnson, per The Star, was referred to as a ‘real threat’ on the left flank for Rohl’s side, and the stats certainly backed that up as, per Sofascore, the wing-back managed 87 touches, and provided three key passes throughout the game, showing that Rohl made sure that they used the wing-back to cause a threat.
The Sheffield Wednesday man also won five out his six ground duels, coming to an 86% success rate, and also winning 100% of his aerial duels and also making two clearances.

Marvin Johnson has showcased more ability than Max Lowe so far this season
When Lowe was brought in, it was expected that he would cement his spot in defence as a result of his Premier League experience, whilst also previously having positive spells in the Championship.
However, on the attacking front Johnson showed a lot more than the former Blades defender and almost gave Rohl’s side an extra dimension from his play.
Johnson has shown in previous appearances that the defensive side of his game can sometimes prove to be his achilles heel, however he showed a solid level of competence to quash any threats from QPR winger Karamoko Dembele, and as a result has certainly shown enough to be given the nod next time out in the Championship against recently-relegated Premier League side Luton Town.
