Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass has highlighted the Hillsborough atmosphere as one key issue.
Since the brilliant opening day victory against Plymouth Argyle, where Danny Rohl’s side emphatically put four past the visitors, there has been much less optimism in-and-around S6 following four straight winless games in the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday were agonisingly close to clawing themselves away from the root of the table after Barry Bannan’s late brilliant strike against Queens Park Rangers, however Rohl’s side not dealing with a goal-mouth scramble in the dying seconds saw his side pick up just one point.
The Owls players are clearly lacking confidence in their play, particularly in front of goal, with Sheffield Wednesday scoring just one goal in the previous four games.

Sheffield Wednesday were most certainly on top of their opposition throughout the game with their aggressive way of playing, however it took 93 minutes for the South Yorkshire outfit to make a breakthrough.
Windass has highlighted one issue at this moment, as he said, per Yorkshire Post: “We’ll be a good team this season, we just need a bit of realistic expectation.
“We stayed up last season on the final day.
“I just want all my team-mates to play with full confidence.
“I fully believe we’ve got the best crowd in the league when everyone is on our side. We’ve seen teams come here and buckle under the atmosphere of our own supporters. We just need to back our own team.
“Sometimes it’s difficult to play here. A little pass goes astray and all of a sudden the whole world’s coming down on everybody.
“If we’re bottom of the league in January then you can call me an absolute clown but we’re five games in. Luton came down from the Premier League and they’re on the same points as us.”
Sheffield Wednesday currently sit on just four points, just one point ahead of Hull City, who currently take up the final relegation spot.

Managing expectations have been a key issue for Sheffield Wednesday
It is more than safe to say the buzz around the club was tangible in the build up to the 2024/25 Championship season.
Rohl was successfully bringing fresh faces into the side early on in the summer, and there was every expectation that Rohl was the man to take Sheffield Wednesday forward this campaign after his heroics of steering the Owls away from relegation last season.
Even Windass was claiming that his side were gunning for the Premier League this season, and whilst we are still just five games into the season, there is an indicator that Sheffield Wednesday must cater their expectations to the fact that this is Rohl’s first full season as a head coach in his career.
Whilst the several signings made more than exciting, they still need plenty of time to gel in Rohl’s system, and that will most certainly happen eventually.
