Carlton Palmer believes Sheffield Wednesday’s draw has made one change necessary.
Sheffield Wednesday managed to drop two points at the death against Queens Park Rangers in a 1-1 draw at Hillsborough.
It was expected that Barry Bannan’s late stunner would be enough to seal the three points for the side in S6, however a late goal scramble saw Sheffield Wednesday concede yet again from a set-piece.
There is no doubt that Danny Rohl’s side were on top for large quantities of the game, and were certainly aggressive in their approach, however they lacked a necessary edge in front of goal, which in the end was pivotal to the result.
Rohl has been critical of his side, especially on the defensive front following the game and former Sheffield Wednesday player Carlton Palmer has also spoken about the result, and what the German boss must ‘sort out now’.

Carlton Palmer points finger at Rohl’s tactics after Sheffield Wednesday draw
Ever since the opening day triumph at home to Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield Wednesday have scored just one goal since.
Former Wednesday player Palmer has put this down to the tactics, as he said, per Football League World: “There’s a lot of work to do and Danny Rohl has brought in a lot of players.
“I think in the way that Sheffield Wednesday are playing in the Championship, they want to go and press teams, and they’re going to come unstuck.
“I don’t believe that under Danny Rohl this is going to be a problem for Sheffield Wednesday, and I don’t envisage them getting relegated, but there’s just one or two things that they need to sort out now, and get back to making themselves hard to beat.
“That’s first and foremost in any game. Don’t get beat and then that gives you a platform to go forward.
“That was the platform that kept them in the league last season, so you can’t single out footballers because Bannan is an exceptional footballer and has done very well for Sheffield Wednesday, but the system’s not helping them, and I’m sure that Rohl will change that to make it more solid for the team.”
Sheffield Wednesday’s shortcomings come from confidence in the side
It certainly is very easy to blame the tactics being utilised by Rohl at this point, who is just starting his first ever full season as a heads coach in his entire career.
The German boss at times can make an error in judgement, however the burden for recent results can not lie solely on the tactics deployed.
There is a clear void of confidence in front of goal for the Owls, as whilst they are still fashioning chances, there is no one at this moment who can be relied on to slot it home.
