The Sheffield Wednesday youngster could be handed his league debut against Millwall.

The Owls are set to face off against Millwall as they look to put an end to two league defeats on the bounce.

Sheffield Wednesday will have regained some of their confidence after a stellar second half performance in the EFL Cup against Grimsby Town, which saw five goals in the space of 45 minutes for Danny Rohl’s side in a 5-1 win.

However, the Owls will have to face the trip to the Den without Nathaniel Chalobah after he sustained an injury against the Mariners, and there is no certainty that Shea Charles will be in contention for a place in the squad at this moment, creating the potential of a league debut for one youngster.

Sheffield Wednesday youngster Sean Fusire could be handed league debut v Millwall

It is likely that the midfield for Sheffield Wednesday in their away clash against Millwall will consist of both Barry Bannan and Svante Ingelsson, however there is every chance that young prodigy Sean Fusire could feature from off the bench for the Owls.

The 19-year-old, whose senior game time has only come in the FA Cup and EFL Cup was recently promoted to the first-team permanently, with Rohl praising the youngster for his work ethic and his efforts to reach this level at such a young age.

Sean Fusire will be Sheffield Wednesday’s breakthrough star for the 2024/25 season

Rohl has clearly already made a bold call on the Owls youngster so early on in the season, with the German boss clearly more than happy of what he saw from Fusire in his performance against Hull City in the first round of the EFL Cup.

The Sheffield-born midfielder will no doubt kick on from this moment, and there is every likelihood that it will become a consistent sight to see him in and around the squad for league matches.

With Rohl’s ability to get the best out of the younger ranks in his side, there is no doubt that time on the pitch with the first team will be beneficial and certainly hasn’t come too soon for Fusire.
