One Sheffield Wednesday man must turn the tide of his performances after Danny Rohl’s recent comments.

Sheffield Wednesday are set to face off against Derby County on their travels, with a win set to take them to the lofty heights of the top half of the Championship.

The prospect of sitting just five points away from the play-off spots, if Danny Rohl’s side can pick up all three points at Pride Park, is certainly what Sheffield Wednesday deserve after their recent few weeks.

Several players have been in top form, such as the ever-depenable Barry Bannan in-the centre-of-the-park, who has really benefitted having Shea Charles beside him, whilst up top, Michael Smith has somewhat made a name for himself by being the German boss’ go-to striker in recent weeks after picking up three goals in six previous outings.

However, there is one Owls player who hasn’t quite lived up to expectations so far in the 2024/25 Championship season, and after a positive injury update for one absent player, they face a race against the clock to cement their spot in the side.

Sheffield Wednesday attacker Anthony Musaba faces race to improve with returning Olaf Kobacki

The Owls have been rather light in regards to attacking quality, barring the recent decent spells of Smith leading the line.

One of the suspects who have not quite lived up to expectations this season is Anthony Musaba, who has undergone a fairly disappointing campaign so far, and was recently highlighted by Sheffield Wednesday fans last time out as one player they expect to see more from.

The Sheffield Wednesday winger has managed just one goal so far this season, and whilst he has more often been utilised from off-the-bench this season, especially in recent time, his impact has been very limited.

The improvements from Musaba must come thick and fast with Olaf Kobacki set for a return in December after sustaining an injury previously.

Olaf Kobacki could offer spark that Anthony Musaba lacks

Sheffield Wednesday’s threat from the wide areas has been somewhat lacking on many occasions so far this season, however this could be solved by the returning Kobacki.

Per SofaScore, Musaba has been somewhat wasteful in front of goal, managing just one goal, despite a tally of 1.82 xG. He is also managing just 0.7 shots per game, and has already missed two big chances.

Whilst Kobacki during his limited time on the pitch so far this season hasn’t been prolific, previous spells elsewhere suggest that he has the abilities to bring a needed goal output to the side, after the 23-year-old recorded 13 goals for Arka Gdynia in the Polish second tier.
