Anthony Musaba was one of the stars of last season for Sheffield Wednesday. This time round, it’s a different story.
Anthony Musaba was an unlikely hero for the Owls on their road to safety last season, scoring some vital goals in what was his first season in England.
The Dutchman scored seven and assisted five more in 43 Championship appearances following his move to Hillsborough from Monaco.
This season, Musaba has just one goal in 15 Championship outings, with three assists after setting up Michael Smith in Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-0 win against Hull City on Tuesday.
Earlier in the season, Sheffield Wednesday fans labelled Musaba the ‘most frustrating footballer’, following a tough game against Leeds United.
And the mood was similar after the game against Hull City.

Sheffield Wednesday fans want to see more from Anthony Musaba
Musaba came on at half-time of the game at Hull City. Although he made a good assist for Smith, it was an overall challenging performance for the 23-year-old.
Many Sheffield Wednesday fans are wondering how Musaba has gone from being such a key player to being one so low on confidence this time round.
“What’s happened to Musaba deary me,” said one fan. Another said of Musaba: “Hasn’t looked like the same player returned from last year. Desperate for a goal.”
Other comments of ‘What’s happened to Musaba’ rang out on social media, whilst one even described the winger as ‘abysmal’.
Another posted: “The regression of [Djeidi] Gassama and Musaba needs to be studied… We need a winger in January.”
Meanwhile, one Sheffield Wednesday fan posted of Musaba: “Really hope he kicks on now. Genuine player. Can see he’s a great lad just struggling for confidence, hopefully the assist does him the world of good.”

Sheffield Wednesday fans had high hopes for Anthony Musaba this season
At times last season, Musaba looked a bit out of place. It was his first season in England and it was a dire situation at Wednesday.
But his eventual numbers spoke for themself. The going into this season, Sheffield Wednesday fans tipped Musaba to shine in the Championship. But that’s simply not been the case.
Like many Owls fans are saying on social media, Musaba has backtracked from his performances last season, now looking like he’s really low on confidence.
But his assist on Tuesday showed he can still play a big role this season. He needs to wait for his chances and take them when they come.
