We are now into December, which means fans are starting to think about the potential new arrivals at their club, and Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing one very exciting talent.
Danny Rohl’s side have made a decent start to the campaign, if not a little inconsistent, and Sheffield Wednesday could use a boost to propel them up the table.
The January transfer window presents a great opportunity for the Owls to mix things up, but it is thought Sheffield Wednesday will only pursue loan deals as the club’s financial situation continues to be tight.
With this in mind, the rumour mill has started to spin already, and one of the hottest properties in the Football League has now been linked with a move to Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday fans are desperate to see Louie Barry sign
Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly one of many Championship clubs keeping tabs on Louie Barry. The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Stockport County in League One, and has 14 goals in 18 games this term.
Villa are considering pulling Barry out of that loan agreement and arranging a new move for him at a higher level, but there is a lot of competition for his services according to Alex Miller on X/Twitter.
That hasn’t stopped Owls fans dreaming, though, with one posting: “Unreal singing if we pull this off, [he] has the end product we need from wingers.”
Another, who has seen Barry in the flesh, added: “I’ve been and seen him a few times. Far too good for League Two and far too good for League One. Can definitely make the jump up and offers creativity and a real desire to entertain and make things happen.”
Whether Wednesday can win the race remains to be seen. One fan suggested the S6 side “offer Stockport Charlie McNeil on loan” as a sweetener, while another was more sceptical, stating, “Imagine others will offer him more [money] than the Owls.”
Another fan was slightly more positive, and suggested the success of Shea Charles could help, writing: “Something telling me we will definitely miss out but hopefully Shea Charles loan goes as an example for us.”
They’re not alone in that thinking, either. One fan said: “I wouldn’t underestimate the club’s pull for loan signings. Premier League clubs will be looking at progress Beadle is making, strong relationship with Southampton and Brighton, we’ll be strongly considered by most Premier League clubs.”

Louie Barry is way too good for League One
This kind of thing happens quite often, where players very quickly show that they are simply a cut above the level they are playing.
Sheffield Wednesday have seen it before with the likes of Ross Barkley, where it was evident from the start that the midfielder was too good for the Championship.
| Statistics | Louie Barry 2024/25 (league only) |
|---|---|
| Appearances | 17 |
| Goals | 13 |
| Shots on target % | 52.8 |
| Assists | 1 |
| Penalties scored | 3 |
| Shots on target per 90 | 1.98 |
Still, Louie Barry has to prove himself in the second tier, and although he may be enjoying life at Stockport, he will be hungry for that opportunity to step up.
If the Owls can pull this signing off, Barry would immediately improve Rohl’s options in attack, which is something the club is crying out for right now.
The youngster would offer the balance on the left wing that Wednesday are lacking at the moment, and could score and create a boatload of goals in the second half of the season to push Rohl’s side up the Championship table and could even have them dreaming of the play-offs.
