Sheffield Wednesday pulled off a stunning turnaround against Derby County last weekend, and now one player has a huge chance to stake a claim on a starting spot.
The Owls left it late on Sunday evening to grab a vital win against Derby, with another three points and another win on the road lifting Sheffield Wednesday to 12th in the Championship table.
Danny Rohl’s side looked out of it in the first half at Pride Park, but a resilient display after the interval, twinned with some key substitutions that ‘stepped up’ for Sheffield Wednesday, helped turn the tide in favour of the away side.
Now, it seems everything is in place for one of those players to finally put together a run in the team.

Jamal Lowe was the super sub Danny Rohl needed vs Derby
Jamal Lowe was the matchwinner for Wednesday against Derby, slotting home neatly from a brilliant Callum Paterson cross in the fourth minute of injury time.
You only have to look at the statistics from the game to see that Lowe was an inspired change from Rohl, not just because of his goal, but also for his hard work in the press and efforts in winning back the ball for his team in deeper areas.

Rohl has praised the ‘outstanding’ response he saw from the Sheffield Wednesday players on the day, and it says a lot about their mentality and spirit that they were able to grind out that important win.
It also speaks volumes for how, despite not having the biggest squad, Wednesday do have some great options in reserve. Indeed, Rohl may be tempted to call on Lowe once more in the next game, but this time in a more pivotal role.

Rohl has to give Jamal Lowe starting spot against Preston North End
Wednesday have struggled for goals this season, with Ike Ugbo in particular a disappointment with no league goal to his name so far.
It remains to be seen whether the Sheffield Wednesday striker will still be injured for the Preston game, but even if he is passed fit, it would surely make sense for Rohl to hand the starting berth to Lowe.
The 30-year-old will be high on confidence after scoring such a vital goal for his team, and the Owls have to keep this momentum going in any way they can.

Given the games they have coming up this month, Sheffield Wednesday have a genuine chance of putting together a strong run of results in December.
Based on his performance and his goal last weekend, Lowe certainly deserves to be a part of the starting XI for the next game at the very least. And, who knows, perhaps Rohl will find the consistent goalscorer he has been looking for all season?
