The new Sheffield Wednesday man has struggled ever since his debut vs Plymouth Argyle.

Danny Rohl and his side have entered the first international break of the 2024/25 Championship season with plenty of issues to work on.

With Sheffield Wednesday currently sitting 20th in the league, Rohl has identified set-pieces as one of the pressing issues amongst his side, whether they are defending or attacking.

It is safe to say that after what now appears to have been a blip performance against Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield Wednesday’s several new signings haven’t managed to have adapted smoothly to the side.

However, one new signing in particular has struggled for the Owls after a brilliant league debut in front of a packed-out Hillsborough crowd, and Rohl will be hoping to get the best out of him again.

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder signing has disappointed ever since Owls debut

When observing Sheffield Wednesday’s summer signings, the likes of Ike Ugbo, Jamal Lowe and Yan Valery were the three that piqued Owls fans’ interests, with all three having proven ability in the English game.

However, one signing that went under the radar throughout the summer was Svante Ingelsson, who drawed in very little speculation from Owls fans on how he would adapt to Rohl’s side.

His debut was certainly exciting, and there were many reasons why he was described as ‘tremendous’ following the appearance that saw him notch an assist, as well as helping Barry Bannan control the midfield.

However, since such a brilliant opening game, things have gone far from well for the Swedish midfielder.

Danny Rohl must look to get the best out of Svante Ingelsson

The Owls midfielder has struggled in the Championship ever since his debut at home to Plymouth Argyle, of which saw Ingelsson, per SofaScore, average a 6.75 rating against both Sunderland and Leeds United, before being dropped for new signing Shea Charles for the trip to Millwall.

There is every fear for the 26-year-old that Charles will become a constant in the side, giving Ingelsson as a result very little chance.

It will be up to Rohl at this point to look to utilise Ingelsson to the best of his abilities, as was the case against Plymouth Argyle, as we saw a brilliant partnership from the Swede and Bannan.

It would be a shame to see Ingelsson casted away after such a brilliant debut in blue & white, and rather than accepting for him to be a back-up, Rohl must discover how to get the best out of the midfielder.
