Danny Rohl committed his future to Sheffield Wednesday during the summer. But realistically, he may not be at Hillsborough for many more seasons.
In the summer, Danny Rohl signed a new Sheffield Wednesday contract, committing his future to the club for three more years in a move that earned Dejphon Chansiri a lot of praise at the time.
But right now, Chansiri is again a man under fire. Sheffield Wednesday have been placed under an embargo and could face three windows under an embargo if Chansiri doesn’t satisfy his outstanding HMRC bills.
In the past, Rohl has kept very quiet about Wednesday’s off-field issues and has always spoken positively about Chansiri and his conversations with him.
But Sheffield Wednesday continue to be held back by unstable ownership and Chansiri’s seemingly unreliable cash flow. And there may quickly come a time where Rohl says enough is enough.

Danny Rohl’s vision for Sheffield Wednesday could be crushed by embargo
Speaking earlier in the season, Rohl outlined his plans for Sheffield Wednesday, stating that he has an idea of what he wants to do in the next two transfer windows.
Last summer’s window was a very positive one. Chansiri again earned praise for spending money on the likes of Ike Ugbo and Yan Valery whilst also facilitating the signing of nine new players.
But should Sheffield Wednesday be dealt a three-window embargo then it’ll completely squash Rohl’s plans for the club, and he’ll be stuck with a team that, right now, can’t get out the bottom half of the Championship table.
Rohl remains a hugely ambitious coach. But if he can’t add to his side in the next few transfer windows then for him and his career, there’d be no point staying in S6, and he may then attract offers from other clubs who find out about Wednesday’s situation.

Will Sheffield Wednesday be dealt a three-window embargo
There’s a bit of confusion over the subject, as there often is, but the for Sheffield Wednesday, the damage is already done.
Sheffield Wednesday have already defaulted on their payments for 30 days or more, hence the embargo, and they are now liable to a three-window ban.
But ‘liable’ is the key word in all of this. Should Chansiri satisfy his HMRC debt then all should be well; Dom Howson has tipped Chansiri to settle Sheffield Wednesday’s debt before January.
On the other hand, the EFL may decide to take stricter action against Sheffield Wednesday for committing the same offence twice in two seasons.
The next few weeks will bring more clarity on the topic, and subsequently on Rohl’s future at the club.
