One of Sheffield Wednesday’s most promising players has been handed an international call-up for his country as a result of his exceptional form.
Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to build on their positive 0-0 draw against Bristol City in midweek when they travel to Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.
Danny Rohl’s men picked up their first clean sheet of the campaign since a 4-0 hammering of Plymouth Argyle on opening day.
While Sheffield Wednesday fans were critical of striker Ike Ugo, journalist Dom Howson hailed the performance of goalkeeper James Beadle, who earned an England under-21 call-up on the back of that display.
Beadle isn’t the only Owls player representing his country in the next international break, with one of Rohl’s key defenders receiving a deserved call-up.

Sheffield Wednesday ace Di’Shon Bernard receives Jamaica call-up
Di’Shon Bernard has made a solid start to the campaign for Sheffield Wednesday, with the former Manchester United youngster performing admirably in the middle of a back three.
Bernard signed a new contract at Wednesday in the summer after being a free agent for several weeks and Rohl will undoubtedly be delighted the club came to that conclusion.
In the recent goalless draw against Bristol City, Bernard was at his very best as he led the way for defensive actions (14) and made more clearances and tackles than any other player on the pitch.
Previously dubbed a ‘special’ talent while in Man United’s academy, the 23-year-old has been in ‘excellent’ form under Rohl and has now deservedly received his latest call-up to the Jamaican national team.
Bernard – who has been capped 18 times by his country – was one of 23 players selected for the squad, including former Sheffield Wednesday man Michail Antonio.
The international call-up is pleasing for Bernard but not for Danny Rohl
Jamaica will play two matches in the Concacaf Nations League during the October international break, with Bernard facing off against Nicaragua and Honduras.
For the young defender, it’s always an honour for him to represent his country but Rohl will always feel a sense of anxiety, as he prays that his players don’t pick up any injuries.
Bernard also often returns from his internationals looking a bit jaded and fatigued, with Rohl often forced into resting his defender.
In an ideal world, the German tactician wouldn’t have this problem however, it’s one that he’s had to deal with and will continue to do so while his players receive international recognition.
