Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl spoke to the press on Thursday, ahead of his side’s Championship clash against Burnley.

Sheffield Wednesday welcome Burnley to Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon, as the second tier returns to our screens following another international break.

And Danny Rohl will be hoping that it’s another two-week break that works wonders for his side, as was the case with the September break.

The Owls went into last month’s break on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Millwall which left them in 20th place of the Championship table.

In the five games between then and the October break, Wednesday have lost just once, beating Coventry City 2-1 in their last outing to find themselves in 15th place of the table.

Sheffield Wednesday team news latest ahead of Burnley

Speaking to the press on Thursday, Rohl gave an update on his side, with fans keen to learn more about Di’Shon Bernard.

During the international break, it was revealed that Bernard picked up an injury on international duty with Jamaica and that he had returned to Middlewood prematurely.

Rohl says that Bernard has since trained, but makes no indication as to whether he’ll feature against Burnley.

The Owls boss said: “He looks better. After the tough week, he felt something, and you have to pay attention to the risk.

“He has a small one. But now he starts to train. It looks good. I saw him today on the pitch and I’m happy.”

Meanwhile, fellow centre-back Michael Ihiekwe looks as though he could miss out. Rohl added: “Michael Ihiekwe with a small one [injury], with the Achilles.

“Let’s see. It’s a little bit difficult to manage the load at the moment. Especially then when you look ahead.

“It’s a decision making for this game or the next game. But so far, it looks good.”

Rohl suggested that Liam Palmer is good to go, whilst Olaf Kobacki scored against Aston Villa in a friendly match during the break, suggesting he’s fit again.

There was no update on Nathanial Chalobah who posted an injury update on his Instagram this week.

Which centre-backs are available for Sheffield Wednesday vs Burnley

With Ihiekwe and Bernard looking as though they won’t be risked against Burnley, it leaves very few centre-backs left available for Rohl.

The impressive Akin Famewo will no doubt start. So too will Palmer if he’s fit to do so.

Then, one of Yan Valery or Pol Valentin could slot into the middle, with the other playing in the right wing-back position.

It could be a makeshift back-line for Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
