Sheffield Wednesday had to settle for a point in their Championship clash against Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.
Sheffield Wednesday kick-started their return to Championship action with a game against Cardiff City at Hillsborough on Saturday, in a 12:30pm kick off on Sky Sports.
Danny Rohl’s side started brightly and could’ve had the lead within seconds, if Ike Ugbo’s goal wasn’t ruled out for offside.
Cardiff then hit Sheffield Wednesday with a devastating counter-attack to take the lead. But the Owls showed resilience, equalising straight away through Di’Shon Bernard on the 36-minute mark.
The game ended 1-1, with fans disappointed with a draw in the end. The Owls remain in 15th place of the Championship table ahead of a midweek clash against Hull City on Tuesday.

Di’Shon Bernard makes interesting claim on his form this season
Bernard’s performance for Sheffield Wednesday against Cardiff caught the eye, with journalist Joe Crann praising the 24-year-old’s commanding display at the back.
It comes after Bernard endured a nightmare performance with Jamaica during the international break, scoring an own goal in their 4-2 defeat against USA on Monday morning.
But the centre-back shone against Cardiff. He completed the most accurate passes in the game and was solid throughout.
Speaking to Owls Heaven after full-time, Bernard revealed that he was unhappy with how he started this season, but says he feels much more confident now.
Bernard explained: “I wasn’t happy the way I started, to be honest. I knew that, in myself, I wasn’t really quite up to speed.
“That’s probably down to fitness. I never quite had the full pre-season. But I’m feeling much better. Much more confident in my performances now.
“I’m looking, I think, much better on the ball, and much better defensively.”

Di’Shon Bernard echoes Danny Rohl’s comments before Cardiff City
Not only does Bernard himself think that he’s improved of late, but so too does Rohl.
Speaking before the game against Cardiff, Rohl singled out Bernard as one of the Sheffield Wednesday players who’s improved in recent weeks.
Rohl said: “It’s not always easy because of the schedule and how little training time we have. You look at Gabriel Otegbayo and Di’Shon Bernard who have improved very well this season.”
Bernard’s season understandably started a bit slower than expected. He was out of contract for a long time before re-signing at Wednesday, also playing in Copa America.
But his performance against Cardiff proves that he’s back to his best.
