Sheffield Wednesday fans were left particularly unimpressed by one player against Swansea City.

There’s not a lot of positives to take from the 0-0 draw against Swansea City on Tuesday night; Sheffield Wednesday once again lacked firepower, lacked bite, and lacked end product.

The point leaves Danny Rohl’s side in 17th place of the Championship table after the opening 11 games of the season, now without a win in two after the 2-0 defeat against Burnley before the break.

And amid all the negativity on social media right now, one player seems to be stand out; Svante Ingelsson.

Sheffield Wednesday fans blast Svante Ingelsson after Swansea City

Ingelsson shone on his Sheffield Wednesday debut against Plymouth Argyle. But he’s been in and out of the XI since, and playing out of position.

Rohl once again tested Ingelsson in the left attacking midfield role but to no avail.

Sheffield Wednesday fans on X described Ingelsson has have an ‘absolute stinker’ against Swansea, with another fan adding that ‘Ingelsson is absolutely dire in that left side attacking role’.

Other comments ranged from ‘Ingelsson needs to come off’ to ‘Marv has been very frustrated with Ingelsson tonight’, with Marvin Johnson trying, but failing, to make anything happen down the left.

Another fan posted that Ingelsson ‘needs a run to build some confidence’, but the comments remained mostly negative.

One read: “If I were Ingelsson I’d take my slippers off and put some football boots on at half time. Some of his shooting has been wayward to say the least.”

Another similar post read: “First game of the season Ingelsson looked like prime R9… What’s happened to him.”

Svante Ingelsson stats vs Swansea City

Ingelsson managed just 24 touches of the ball against Swansea (10th-most), with seven accurate passes (lowest of any player that started the game for either side).

The Swede also recorded the most shots off target of anyone on the pitch (three), with one big opportunity missed in the first half.

And despite starting on the wing, Ingelsson didn’t attempt a single dribble all night, compared to Djeidi Gassama on the other flank who attempted the most of any Wednesday player (five).
