Danny Rohl has told Sheffield Wednesday players to be ready for a ‘tough’ international break.
Speaking to The Star, the Owls boss revealed that he had a number of ‘topics’ he wanted the team to work on ahead of their next Championship outing to Birmingham City.
Danny Rohl had brought spirits up in Yorkshire after putting on a number of more promising displays, including claiming their first win of the season over Rotherham United last month.
However, Sheffield Wednesday will now head into the international break off the back of a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Millwall.
While the Owls claimed a majority of possession, they only managed two shots in target at Hillsborough, with Ashley Fletcher making only his third league start for the club.
Di’Shon Bernard is the only senior Sheffield Wednesday player that has been called up to the national team for November’s internationals, meaning Rohl has almost a full squad to work with over the next couple of weeks.
The German has warned his team that the break will be ‘tough’ and has given a hint at what to expect.
“It will be a tough week for everybody – it will not be a rest,” Rohl said.
“We have topics I want to prepare on. I have planned training now to the end of the month. It’s important to look long-term to prepare everything we want to do. Hopefully everybody is ready for this.
“I have topics for the week; playing against the ball, transition, offensive and defence, playing with the ball. It depends on the opponents, maybe there is a stronger opponent and we will work harder against the ball. Other weeks maybe we need more solutions with the ball. We amend the process and create the schedule for the next weeks.”

Danny Rohl has already made a number of changes following his arrival at the club – some which have worked and some which have not.
Liam Palmer hasn’t played a minute of football since Rohl’s appointment, while Ashley Fletcher’s inclusion in the starting line-up at the weekend wasn’t met with great encouragement.
Rohl clearly intends on walking this team very hard over the next couple of weeks and it is the perfect opportunity for him to get to know his players more and work out exactly how he wants his team to look.
Likewise, the players have clearly taken a liking to the 34-year-old manager, however they still need to understand what he wants from them and replicate their positivity onto the pitch.
It would be a big surprise to see a similar starting line-up against Birmingham to the one that was beaten by Millwall.
