Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has urged the squad to learn from their defeat to Millwall.
Wednesday lost 0-4 at home to Millwall on Saturday afternoon, in what was their manager Joe Edwards’ first game in charge of the Lions.
Murray Wallace gave the away side the lead in the 31st minute before George Saville doubled their lead just before halftime.
Millwall then got their third early into the second half through Wes Harding, before Brooke Norton-Cuffy got Millwall’s fourth and final goal, as they completed a 4-0 drubbing of Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Rohl on what Wednesday ‘have to do’
Speaking to the Sheffield Star following the loss on Saturday, Rohl said what Millwall did was ‘not magic’ and that they have to learn from defeats like these.
“The opponent did very well… It was not magic what they did but they played very professionally. The goals came from a corner, then a shot. They were strong in the duels and this is what you have to do.
“We did this. We were strong in the duels and we were fighting, but it was not good enough… We have to create chances, but at the moment we maybe need four or five chances for one goal and the opponent needs maybe two. We have to train this situation and be better in defence.”
“We have to learn from it… You can learn from every match, this is important. We have to learn from this game and make it better in the future.”
Owls need to fix up – and fast
Danny Rohl is right in saying they have to learn.
This is not League One anymore – this is the Championship, and the standard has got a lot higher. They can not afford to be losing convincingly every week anymore, they need to start picking up points as soon as possible.
Clearly, the Wednesday players have struggled to deal with the step-up so far, so hopefully Rohl can galvanise his players in the upcoming international break.
The Owls are currently nine points adrift from safety in the second tier.
