Sheffield Wednesday defender Di’Shon Bernard has been called up to the Jamaica squad for the November international break.
As confirmed by journalist of the Sheffield Star, Joe Crann, on his X account (formerly known as Twitter), Bernard has been listed as one of the defenders for the Reggae Boyz.
Jamaica are set for a big international break, where they face Canada home and away in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Nations League.
They play at home in the first leg, which kicks off at 00:00 on Saturday morning, and the second leg away at Canada, which kicks off at 00:30 on Wednesday morning.
Has Bernard been good for Wednesday?
Bernard joined Wednesday in the summer on a free transfer from Manchester United, and has been one of the Owls’ best signings from the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old has played 11 times so far in the Championship this season, his second season in the second tier after a loan spell at Hull City in the 21/22 season, where he made 28 appearances.
He was praised as ‘the best performing’ in the 0-4 home defeat to Millwall on Saturday afternoon.
He was the only Sheffield Wednesday player to go out on international duty during the last break in October, with the majority of the squad staying as he went to play for Jamaica.
The last break was successful for him and the Reggae Boyz and they confirmed their place in the aforementioned quarter-finals.
Bernard will be hoping to bring back some of that national team form back with him once again in under two weeks’ time, as they look to drag themselves out of the relegation battle.
