Sheffield Wednesday star Di’Shon Bernard has been praised for his performance in the loss to Millwall, despite conceding four goals.
In what was Joe Edwards’ first game as Millwall manager since taking over from Gary Rowett, there was a sense of optimism that the Owls would be able to potentially get their second win of the season under Danny Rohl.
However that optimism was short lived, when Murray Wallace gave the away side the lead in the 31st minute, before George Saville doubled their lead just before half time.
The Lions’ then got their third early into the second half through Wes Harding, before Brooke Norton-Cuffy got Millwall’s fourth and final goal, as they completed a 4-0 drubbing of Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Despite the big loss, there were still some positive words said about one player in particular for the Owls, in Di’Shon Bernard.

Journalist Joe Crann praised Bernard in his player ratings, despite giving him just a five out of ten, saying:
“Probably the best performing Wednesday defender on the day, but still part of a backline that conceded four. Played his part pretty well, though, and made some important challenges – one in the first half that stopped an almost certain goal.”
What national team does Bernard play for?
Bernard joined Wednesday in the summer on a free transfer from Manchester United, and has been one of Wednesday’s best signings from the summer window.
The 23-year-old has played 11 times so far in the Championship this season, his second season in the second tier after a loan spell at Hull City in the 21/22 season, where he made 28 appearances.
He was the only Sheffield Wednesday player to go out on international duty during the last break in October, with the majority of the squad staying as he went to play for Jamaica.
In what was a successful break for Bernard in October, Jamaica confirmed their place in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Nations League. He will be hoping to re-discover that form and bring it back with him once again to Wednesday.
However, overall the defence was far from pleasing, conceding four goals. This has caused claims for the defence to be changed, with Bambo Diaby receiving plenty of criticism following the loss to Millwall.
