Sheffield Wednesday decided to loan striker Bailey Cadamarteri to Lincoln City during the summer transfer window. And so far, it’s proving to be a fruitful decision for both teams.

Sheffield Wednesday bided their time with Bailey Cadamarteri during the summer. Danny Rohl introduced the 19-year-old into the first-team last season and Cadamarteri repaid his faith with four goals in 23 Championship outings.

Going into this season, it was clear that Cadamarteri needed to go out on loan, though Wednesday seemingly took their time in finding the right home.

Wrexham were interested in Cadamarteri during the summer transfer window. But it was League One promotion hopefuls Lincoln City who eventually signed Cadamarteri on loan for the 2024/25 season.

Bailey Cadamarteri stats for Lincoln City so far this season

It took Cadamarteri a few games to get into the Imps’ starting XI and into the groove of League One football.

But he’s now racked up 11 League One appearances for 5th place Lincoln City and has three goals to his name, making him the club’s second-highest scorer in the league.

On Tuesday night, Cadamarteri grabbed himself another goal in the Imps’ 5-0 demolition of Manchester City U21s in the EFL Trophy, taking his season goal tally to five in 15, making him the club’s top scorer in all competitions.

Lincoln City expert gives verdict on Sheffield Wednesday gem Bailey Cadamarteri

Speaking to Sheffield Wednesday News, Lincoln City expert Jamie Johnson, who writes for The Deck among other publications, gave his verdict on Owls academy man Cadamarteri.

He started: “Bailey Cadamarteri has impressed me so far this season. He has provided a zip, spark and real pace to the Imps’ attacking options.

“Bailey is a pacey, explosive forward. I think his off the ball work will improve during his loan stint at Lincoln too.

“But, his current strengths lay in getting in behind League One defences with ease, posing a real danger on the counter attack.”

Cadamarteri is in and out of the Imps XI. He started against Manchester City U21s but was a substitute in the two games before that.

Speaking on Cadamarteri’s game time so far, Johnson added: “Admittedly, Cadamarteri has not been the first name on the team-sheet for [Lincoln manager] Michael Skubala.

“The Imps boss has chopped and changed his two starting attackers, and the Owls loanee has fell foul of that.

“He has been trading paces for Lincoln academy graduate Jovon Makama who himself has shown a greater edge in the final third so far this term.”

Asked whether he thinks Cadamarteri will be Championship-ready come next season, Johnson spoke positively.

He explained: “If he can stamp a permanent place in the first-team, which will surely come with consistent performances and adding a final product, there is no reason why he can’t be Championship ready come the end of the season.

“Lincoln City have a track record of developing young talent and allowing them to prosper. I see no reason why Cadamarteri can’t be the latest addition to that ever growing list, if he turns his undeniable potential into sure-fire goals this season.”

Cadamarteri and the Imps travel down to Exeter City in League One this weekend.
