Fernando Forestieri may be one of the best technical players to have ever played for Sheffield Wednesday in the modern era.
Argentine attacking midfielder Fernando Forestieri wowed Sheffield Wednesday and Championship fans alike with his ability.
Scorer of some fantastic goals during his time at Hillsborough, the now 34-year-old Forestieri has represented Sheffield Wednesday more than any other team in his career.
Playing for the club between 2015 and 2020, Forestieri scored 40 goals in 134 total appearances, also making 17 assists.
Beginning his career in his native Argentina with Boca Juniors, Forestieri got his break in Italy with Genoa in 2006, going on to play for the likes of Malaga, Bari, Watford, Sheffield Wednesday and more.
The Owls paid Watford a reported £3million for Forestieri in the summer of 2015. He later rejected new contract offer, leaving the club in 2020.

What is former Sheffield Wednesday man Fernando Forestieri up to these days?
Forestieri sealed a Serie A move after leaving S6, joining Udinese where he spent two seasons but scored just four goals in 28 total appearances.
The midfielder would then embark on the most prolific spell of his career, moving to Malaysia where he joined Johor Darul Ta’zim.
In two seasons with the club, Forestieri scored 50 goals and made 25 assists in 72 games, winning two Malaysia Super League titles, three Malaysia FA Cups, two Malaysia Cups and three Malaysia Charity Shields.
At the start of 2024, however, Johor Darul Ta’zim released Forestieri despite his success in Malaysia, due to financial restructuring at the club, and he remains a free agent.

Fernando Forestieri once refused to play for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship
Whilst Forestieri was loved throughout his years at Sheffield Wednesday, he did have one or two incidents that didn’t portray him in the best light.
One came during the 2016/17 Championship season when Forestieri refused to play in a game for Sheffield Wednesday against Norwich City.
His refusal came amid reported interest from Derby County and Newcastle United at the time, but Forestieri later apologised for his actions.
He said: “I can only repeat that never once did I even consider leaving Sheffield Wednesday, and I am sorry if anyone ever thought that was the case.
“If I could turn back the clock I would but I cannot. Sometimes in life you have to make mistakes so you can learn from them.
“All I can do is ask for forgiveness from everyone who has been so supportive towards myself and my family during my very happy time at Hillsborough so far.”
Fast-forward to now, and Danny Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday side currently sit in 15th place of the Championship table with their next fixture being at home to Cardiff City later this month.
And Rohl could certainly do with a Forestieri-type player stepping up in the coming weeks.
