Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has said that new goalkeeping coach Sal Bibbo will help him in deciding who the Owls’ no.1 goalkeeper will be.
Bibbo was appointed as goalkeeping coach at Wednesday on Tuesday afternoon, as Röhl welcomed yet another addition to his backroom team.
He comes in with a wealth of experience having previously coached at Arsenal, Brighton and Reading.
Rohl to lean on new coach for advice

Speaking to the Sheffield Star in his pre-match press conference ahead of their clash with Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon, Danny Rohl said that Bibbo’s opinion will influence his decision as to who will play in goal for Wednesday.
“First of all they have to create a relationship. When you are new in a team it is about building up with the goalkeepers to create a first impression. This is a process for a new coach, there are new exercises and this is what we want to see in the next weeks.
“The goalkeeper position is always difficult. It is about belief and being convinced of what he has to do on the pitch. It is a challenge for both goalkeepers and it is good to have an experienced guy in Sal here. We will have a conversation about this topic but for now it is not the situation.
“It is not like we have a number one, or that the other guy is out of the race. It is about performance and this is why I need an experienced guy by my side to look and improve the players.”
Bibbo’s opinion should lead boss into making right decision
Bibbo will be a good person to help Rohl decide who will start between the sticks for Wednesday.
He has had plenty of experience in his career, coaching the likes of Petr Cech, Bernd Leno and Emiliano Martinez whilst at Arsenal.
Rohl has started Cameron Dawson in each of his five games as Wednesday boss so far, but after a poor performance in the defeat to Millwall before the international break, the German hinted at a change between the sticks.
His only other senior option is AC Milan loanee Devis Vasquez, who was first choice under Rohl’s predecessor Xisco Munoz.
Röhl has also hinted at a possible chance for 18-year-old Pierce Charles to be given a chance. He has spent time away with Northern Ireland’s under-19s over the break, so it is not expected that he will be given a chance on Saturday. We could well see him play in the future, though.
