A rival Championship manager has already looked ahead to his side’s clash against Sheffield Wednesday later this month.
Championship football gets underway again this weekend, kick-starting another congested run of fixtures through until the November international break.
Sheffield Wednesday face Burnley at Hillsborough this weekend. Danny Rohl’s side then have a midweek clash at home to Swansea City before travelling down to Portsmouth on Friday 25th October.
Already, Sheffield Wednesday fans have sold out the trip to Portsmouth, despite the game being on a Friday night, live on Sky Sports.
As things stand, the Owls sit in 15th place of the Championship table after their impressive 2-1 win at Coventry City last time out.
They go up against Burnley in 3rd, Swansea in 11th, and Portsmouth in 23rd in the space of six days, making for an all-round test for Rohl’s men.
Portsmouth are as yet without a win in the Championship this season.

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho eyeing ‘must-win’ Sheffield Wednesday game
Speaking to The Portsmouth News ahead of the return of Championship football, Mousinho has spoken about his side’s week ahead.
Pompey face QPR at Loftus Road before travelling to Cardiff City for an enticing midweek clash at the foot of the Championship table.
Then they return to Fratton Park for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday. Mousinho says all three games are ‘must-wins’.
“We have nine points to play for this week,” Mousinho said. “If we play like we can play and if we take as many points as we possibly can from those three games, we’ll be in a decent position.
“The best mentality or the best way to approach any game is to know they are all must-wins. The second you go into the game and you don’t have that attitude and mentality where it’s a must-win, you really drop off the pace.
“We’ll be treating QPR as a must-win, Cardiff as a must-win, Sheffield Wednesday as a must-win as well. I think it’s the best way to go about it.”

Portsmouth’s record in the Championship this season, and Sheffield Wednesday H2H
Portsmouth, despite having no wins in the league this season, have five points on the board, owing to five draws from their opening nine games.
They’ve taken a point off all of Leeds United, Luton Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, and Oxford United, proving extremely stubborn against some strong opposition.
Last time Sheffield Wednesday played Portsmouth, the Owls won 1-0 at Fratton Park courtesy of a Josh Windass goal during the 2022/23 promotion season in League One.
In fact, Wednesday haven’t lost against Portsmouth since 2002 and haven’t lost at Fratton Park since 2000.
The two teams have only played each other 10 times since 2000, with Sheffield Wednesday winning three times.
