Sheffield Wednesday have revealed their Player of the Month for November, in what was a steady month for the Owls.

November was certainly eventful for Sheffield Wednesday, who played five times in the Championship, with the Steel City derby in the middle.

It was the first Steel City derby in five years. But Sheffield Wednesday losy 1-0 away at Sheffield United in what was the last game before the international break.

In total, Danny Rohl’s side took seven points from a possible 15 in November, with wins against Norwich City and Hull City.

Now after back-to-back away wins, against Hull and then in Sheffield Wednesday’s comeback win at Derby County last time out, the Owls sit in 12th place of the Championship table.

There’s a testing December ahead with games against Preston, Blackburn Rovers, Oxford United, Stoke City, Middlesbrough, and Preston again, coming up.

Michael Smith voted November Player of the Month for Sheffield Wednesday

Michael Smith is Sheffield Wednesday fans’ November Player of the Month, and deservedly so after what was a strong month for the big striker.

He scored in games against Watford and Norwich City, also putting in some generally good performances despite starting just two games.

When the voting opened, Sheffield Wednesday fans said Smith was their Player of the Month.

Names like Max Lowe were also mentioned by supporters. But Smith wins it, and Owls skipper Barry Bannan was among the first to react to the news on social media, commenting: “Big Smudgaaaa.”

What Michael Smith has said about his Sheffield Wednesday future

Smith, now 33, is out of contract at Hillsborough at the end of this season, and there’s a lot of talk about whether he’ll still be in S6 come next season.

Recently, Smith discussed his future at Sheffield Wednesday, having this to say: “It’s tough, especially with a young family, but as a footballer I think all you can do is concentrate on what you can control — and that’s coming in every day and working hard, and doing everything right on your end,.

“I’ve always felt that if you do that then everything else will take care of itself, whether that’s getting a new contract or moving on elsewhere. I know if I can control what I can then I’ll be alright at the end of the day.”

Smith is hitting form at the right time. Come January, there might be a lot more talk about his future and whether or not he gets a new contract, with foreign clubs able to agree pre-contract deals.

There was transfer interest in Smith at Sheffield Wednesday during the summer and amid his impressive form this season, there could be a lot of teams keeping tabs on him going into 2025.
