Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan is eyeing a testimonial match with the club.
Now in his 10th season at Sheffield Wednesday, Barry Bannan will be looking to hit the 450 appearance mark for the Owls this season.
The 34-year-old currently has 408 Owls appearances to his name, having started all four Championship games so far in this 2024/25 season.
And despite Bannan having come under criticism this season, following a tough run of form for Danny Rohl’s side, Bannan remains a very well-liked player at Hillsborough.
Bannan played a key role in the club’s great escape in the Championship last time round, having stuck with the club through some very difficult times in recent years.
Earlier this summer, the Owls played their final pre-season friendly in what was Liam Palmer’s testimonial match; a 0-0 draw vs Spanish outfit Leganes.
Now, Bannan is eyeing his testimonial match, and he’s outlined who he’d like the game to potentially be against.

Bannan has played for several teams in his career, albeit in quite brief spells.
On his list of clubs, Bannan has all of Aston Villa, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Crystal Palace, Derby County, Leeds United, and Sheffield Wednesday, also boasting 27 caps for Scotland.
But it was with Celtic where Bannan began his career as a youth player, and as a lifelong Celtic fan, it’s them who Bannan would want his Sheffield Wednesday testimonial match against.
Bannan told The Star when asked if he’d want a testimonial: “Hopefully. This is my 10th season.”
And asked who he’d want his testimonial against, Bannan added: “I think everybody knows! If not them [Celtic], then maybe I’d have one of my old teams like Aston Villa or something but I’m not bothered to be honest.
“As long as all my home fans are here and my family, if you get a good turnout and your family are here then it would be great.”

Will Barry Bannan leave Sheffield Wednesday at the end of this season
Bannan signed a new Sheffield Wednesday contract in the summer, after his previous one expired.
And although the Owls don’t disclose contract lengths often, it’s widely thought that Bannan was handed a one-year deal.
Now after his mixed start to the new season, many might tip Bannan to leave the club at the end of this current campaign, and from there, who knows what the future might have in store for the Scot.
But he certainly deserves a testimonial match for the service and quality he’s provided over the years, and after giving Palmer one, the club will surely do the same for Bannan.
