Sheffield Wednesday don’t have too many players away on international duty right now.
Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl might be quietly pleased to see that many of his first-team players will remain in S6 for this international break.
It’ll give them a chance to rest after a tough start to the 2024/25 season, and it also gives Rohl a chance to work with them on the training ground ahead of a return to action vs QPR this weekend.
But there are some names on international duty. Di’Shon Bernard and Jamal Lowe are on duty with Jamaica, whilst Shea Charles is with Northern Ireland’s senior side, and brother Pierce Charles is with Northern Ireland U21s.
Fellow goalkeeper James Beadle is also away on international duty, currently representing England’s U21s.
The Young Lions played Austria’s U21s at Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road ground on Monday night, managed by former defender Ben Futcher on an interim basis.
Beadle made his U21s debut on Monday after previously representing England’s U20s.

Beadle was training with the England senior team earlier in this month’s international break.
On Monday, the 20-year-old made his England U21’s debut as the Young Lions went on to beat Austria 4-1 in Luton.
Goals came from Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers who scored twice, Manchester City’s James McAtee, and West Brom’s Tom Fellows.
Beadle made three saves on the night, also recording 41 touches of the ball, with 28 out of 32 passes completed (88%).
The challenge facing James Beadle at Sheffield Wednesday
Beadle faces a tough return to action with Sheffield Wednesday, given the Owls’ recent poor form, and arguably Beadle’s recent poor form.
Beadle has so far received mixed reviews from supporters this season with a handful of the goals conceded this season arguably his fault.
But the Brighton man remains very young and inexperienced. But the fact that he’s now playing for England’s U21s and also training with the senior team shows just how highly-rated he is behind the scenes.
He now has to show his class and level-head upon his return to Championship this weekend.
He’s given a tough task at Hillsborough with Rohl wanting Beadle to play out from the back, and with confidence low in the side, mistakes right now are bound to be more common than not.
But if Beadle can come through this tough patch, then it’ll show exactly why he’s so highly-rated on the international scene.
