Joe Crann has shared Sheffield Wednesday’s stance on former transfer target Myles Peart-Harris.
Sheffield Wednesday were joined by the likes of QPR and Huddersfield Town in their pursuit of Myles Peart-Harris this month.
After spending eleven years in Chelsea’s academy, the attacking midfielder had joined Brentford in 2021.
Peart-Harris netted five goals and provided three assists whilst on loan with Forest Green Rovers last season, before he was promoted to Brentford’s first team this term.
The 21-year-old has made three appearances in the Premier League, but looked set to secure a loan move away in search of regular football.
Sheffield Wednesday were reportedly eager to add Peart-Harris to their ranks, but it was confirmed yesterday that they had missed out on him as he had joined Portsmouth until the end of the season.
It was yet another midfielder that The Owls had been beaten to in January, having already failed to sign Conor Coventry.
However, The Star journalist Joe Crann has now suggested that Sheffield Wednesday’s interest in Peart-Harris may not have ever been that serious anyway.
He wrote on X: “Just on Peart-Harris, by the way… I know #SWFC showed an interest in him, but don’t know if it ever actually went further than that interest. Never heard they’d entered into talks our anything.”
Who could Sheffield Wednesday target now?
Sheffield Wednesday have already sent Tyreeq Bakinson out on loan, while John Buckley ended his loan spell at Hillsborough prematurely due to injury.
Their midfield options are dwindling, but it has become very clear that the club are well aware and are trying their best to boost their ranks.
There are still plenty of midfielders The Owls could look at though, and they are definitely looking in the right direction at the Premier League.
The likes of Aston Villa’s Tim Iroegbunam, Bournemouth’s Gavin Kilkenny and Manchester United’s Shola Shoretire should all be on The Owls radar in the final weeks of the window.
There is no doubt the pace will pick up as we reach the end of the month, but Sheffield Wednesday don’t want to be in a position where they start to panic and bring in players that are far from an upgrade on the likes of Jeff Hendrick and Buckley.
Danny Rohl will have his targets though and supporters just need to be patient. Hopefully we will be very happy with our additions in a couple weeks time.
