Talks between Sheffield Wednesday and Conor Coventry have stalled amid interest from Charlton Athletic.
That is according to The Star.
So, what is happening with Coventry this month and will Wednesday still win the race? Let’s take a closer look…
Sheffield Wednesday talks with Conor Coventry now stall
Well, this might be the one piece of bad news so far in an otherwise pretty steady transfer window for Wednesday.
The Star now claim that talks between Wednesday, Coventry and West Ham have stalled somewhat, with Charlton now lurking in the background.
Coventry looks almost certain to leave West Ham this month as he bids to play football on a more frequent basis.

The 23-year-old, however, is seemingly trying to force a move closer to his home in London – with Charlton very keen on his signature.
Wednesday have already landed James Beadle this month, with a striker also wanted at Hillsborough by Danny Rohl.
Coventry looks like a decent player and The Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas previously called him ‘very exciting’.
Who is Conor Coventry?
The talented young midfielder has been with West Ham his entire career, emerging through their respected academy.
In the first half of last season, Wednesday target Coventry was on the bench in the UEFA Europa League before joining Rotherham last January.
There he made 16 appearances as the Millers survived relegation but clearly, there was something about South Yorkshire he didn’t like!
Coventry has enjoyed loan spells with MK Dons, Lincoln and Peterborough but now he’s looking to put down some permanent roots.
Rohl is keen to strengthen his midfield ranks this month and there has been some suggestion that George Byers might go out.
Coventry might not be the signing for Wednesday though, with Charlton now being handed hope with the player’s desire to stay in London.
It now remains to be seen whether or not Wednesday can pull out the stops to convince Coventry to sign this month.
