Sheffield Wednesday have already signed two new players this month, with many more looking possible.
Sheffield Wednesday have made a steady start to the January transfer window.
In what is Danny Rohl‘s first window in charge, the Owls have brought in James Beadle and Ike Ugbo on loan, though it appears that Wednesday are working on many more transfer deals.
Speaking ahead of the Championship clash vs Southampton this weekend, Rohl revealed that he and Head of Recruitment Kevin Beadell have been on the phone to potential new signings, but that many players’ agents are also calling Sheffield Wednesday directly.

Speaking to The Star journalist Joe Crann, Rohl said:
“A lot of agents call us at the moment, and want to bring players here, young players here, because they see how we improve the young players here. This is a good signal, and now it’s about choosing the right one, comparing with what we have here.”
Rohl looks set to target a central midfielder this month after the departures of John Buckley and Tyreeq Bakinson, with Jeff Hendrick another possible departee from the midfield department.
Conor Coventry was a name being linked but he now appears to be closing in on a move to League One Charlton Athletic, after withdrawing from talks with Sheffield Wednesday.
A new Sheffield Wednesday under Rohl
The changes that Rohl has made on the pitch since his arrival in October have been well-documented.
Sheffield Wednesday now play an exciting brand of high-pressing football, and they do so effectively having won five of their last nine, drawing one to have taken 16 points from a possible 27 in that time frame.
But the positive changes aren’t limited to on the pitch.
Like Rohl points out, Sheffield Wednesday has rapidly become an exciting place for young players to come and ply their trade.

Expect to see a few more signings at Hillsborough this month, in what could prove to be Sheffield Wednesday’s most promising transfer window in several years.
