Sheffield Wednesday could reach double figures in transfers before the end of the month.
The Owls wrapped up their ninth summer signing at the weekend as they snapped up Nathaniel Chalobah on a free.
Sheffield Wednesday had looked to sign Mickael Nade from Saint-Etienne, but the midfielder has reportedly decided to reject a move to England and put pen to paper on a new four-year deal in Ligue 1.
Danny Rohl has admitted that he is still looking to add a new midfielder to his ranks though, as well as bolstering the heart of defence.
Di’Shon Bernard has dropped a huge hint on Instagram to suggest he could be about to leave the club, so Rohl will be eager to find his replacement if suspicions are confirmed.
However, that hasn’t stopped Wednesday from being linked with players further up the pitch.
Sheffield Wednesday ‘offered’ Ligue 1 gem
The Yorkshire outfit had previously been linked with a move for Karamoko Dembele, who picked up eight goals and 13 assists whilst on loan at Blackpool last term.
The winger has attracted plenty of interest from the EFL, with The Bolton News reporting that Bolton Wanderers are the latest club to join the race.
It’s unclear whether Wednesday are still pursuing Dembele, but journalist Alan Nixon has claimed they have been ‘offered’ to sign him.
When asked on X if Dembele has been offered to the Owls, Nixon wrote: “Offered all round.”
Brest could look to offload the 21-year-old this summer to guarantee a decent profit after his success in League One, having signed him for free two years ago.
The winger failed to score in 18 appearances for the French outfit, but has made a big impression on his return to England.
The Owls no longer need Karamoko Dembele
The Owls would face huge competition if they wanted to sign Dembele, but Rohl’s success and reputation would likely give them an advantage in their pursuit.
However, the German coach has made it clear he wants a midfielder and a centre-back, so their search for a new winger may be over.
They have already brought in Olaf Kobacki, Svante Ingelsson and Jamal Lowe who can play out wide, while Marvin Johnson, Djeidi Gassama, Anthony Musaba, Callum Paterson and Josh Windass can all do a job too.
Dembele would have been an excellent signing, but is now definitely not a player they need to spend their money on.
