Barry Bannan was one of the first players to commit his future to Sheffield Wendesday this summer.
The Owls captain’s contract expired at the end of the season, but it wasn’t long after their survival was confirmed that he put pen to paper on a new contract.
Bannan is likely to continue with a key role for Sheffield Wednesday, while the club continue to build a really strong squad around him.
The 34-year-old has been introduced to nine new teammates this summer, but has made it very clear that he is still waiting for the Yorkshire outfit to re-sign Ike Ugbo.
Wednesday are eager to bring the Canadian back to the club, while the player has also admitted that it is where he wants to be come deadline day.
However, there is plenty of competition for Ugbo’s signature and his price tag is proving difficult to negotiate.
Bannan ‘nagging’ Ike Ugbo to rejoin Sheffield Wednesday
With the transfer saga dragging out, Bannan has admitted that he has been ‘nagging’ Ugbo to come back to Hillsborough.
Speaking to The Star, the midfielder said: “I’ve tried loads of times, I think he’s fed up with me. But I will text him again today to be honest, just keep nagging him so hopefully he can be here next week and help us.”
The Owls remain confident in their race to sign Ugbo, despite Sunderland joining them in pursuit this week.
It has been reported that Wednesday have already agreed a £2.5m fee for the striker, so fans would like to think that if Ugbo wants to come back to the club, then they should now have a huge advantage.

If the Black Cats were to snap Ugbo up then that would become incredibly frustrating, given how long the Yorkshire outfit have been working on trying to re-sign him.
Ugbo could be the missing puzzle piece heading into the new season, and if they can’t sign him, then Danny Rohl’s side could face a huge final few weeks of the transfer window.
If they want to buy a proven Championship goalscorer then it is likely to cost seven figures, but there is no doubt that any striker worthy of replacing Ugbo will also have significant interest.
Wednesday need to win this race for the 25-year-old and will have to hope that the decision eventually comes down to the player himself, who favours a reunion with Rohl.
