One Sheffield Wednesday outcast will be hoping to cement his place in Danny Rohl’s side against Luton Town.
Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to put an end to a four-game league winless streak as they travel to Luton Town.
On paper, it would appear to be quite a challenge for Danny Rohl’s side to come away from Kenilworth Road with anything more than a point, however the Hatters have themselves been in a poor stint of form, with them sitting just above the Owls in the table on goal difference.
There has clearly been a real dip in optimism amongst Sheffield Wednesday fans ever since the transfer window came to its conclusion, and the several signings that were made have quite simply not lived up to expectations.
It has led to Rohl tinkering with his selection, and one player who looked to be surplus to requirements as the season kicked off looks to have made his way back into the side, however he faces a make or break match against Luton Town.

Marvin Johnson faces make or break match against Luton Town
Sheffield Wednesday wing-back Marvin Johnson was unsurprisingly brought in following a fairly average start to Max Lowe’s Sheffield Wednesday career, with the 33-year-old being handed a starting the 1-1 home draw against Queens Park Rangers.
Despite the late goal for the away side turning it into yet another disappointing afternoon for the Owls, Johnson performed very well on his return to the side and on the attacking front he showed a lot more than the former Blades defender and succeeded in working well on the flank.
He has even been labelled as a ‘top player’ by Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan, per The Star, showing that he truly has the backing of the dressing room to permanently retain his place in the side.
Max Lowe faces uncertain future if Marvin Johnson performs well
Whilst Johnson has done well to suggest that he should be the number one option at left wing-back following his performance against QPR, that opportunity has arisen as a result of Lowe’s performances at the start of the 2024/25 season.
If Johnson is able to follow his QPR showing up with a brilliant showing against Luton Town, then Lowe could face a serious problem in terms of trying to win back his place.
It would be fair to suggest he has become somewhat of a scapegoat, which may resort from his past with Sheffield United, however Rohl certainly made the right option to look to bring in Johnson.
The opportunity may not arrive any time soon, however Lowe will need to look to impress Rohl as he, if Johnson performs well yet again, can be confirmed as Sheffield Wednesday’s back up option at wing-back.
