Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl could very easily sanction three January departures.
The Owls’ recent spell of form has seen them notch two successive wins, meaning that they now find themselves just five points away from Watford in the final play-off spot.
Sheffield Wednesday weren’t quite at their best against Derby County, particularly in the first half, however they did impeccably well to end up with all three points against the side in Derbyshire, with Barry Bannan and Jamal Lowe bagging the crucial goals to take the side into the top half of the Championship.
After plenty of experimentation from Danny Rohl, it appears that he has finally worked out his favoured side, and as a result the future of some at the club could appear to be somewhat uncertain.
Here are three players who will have to prove to Rohl that they should still be a part of his plans for the rest of the season…

Charlie McNeill
Owls attacker Charlie McNeill has had very little time to stake his claim up top for Sheffield Wednesday, something which is on the stranger side considering the fact that he bagged a brace on his debut in the EFL Cup away at Hull City.
His last game in blue & white came against Grimsby Town, once again in the EFL Cup, and he is still yet to notch a single minute of Championship action, despite Wednesday’s other attackers being predominantly out of form this season.
It is clear that Rohl doesn’t see McNeill as part of his immediate first-team plans, and a loan move elsewhere would likely be the best course of action.

Michael Ihiekwe
Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Michael Ihiekwe is yet another figure at the club who has found himself rather low down on the pecking order at the club, with the likes of Di’Shon Bernard, Akin Famewo and Dominic Iorfa much more likely to be handed a spot in the starting 11.
Ihiekwe has tallied just four appearances so far in the 2024/25 Championship campaign, with the last one coming in the 3-2 win at home to West Brom in September.
The 32-year-old may very well be content with limited game time for the rest of the 2024/25 season and look to just continue providing a back-up choice, however if he does want to show some determination to get his career on track, a loan move to a League One club could very much do that, especially considering he’s unlikely to be handed an opportunity to impress Rohl.

Sean Fusire
The choice that is admittedly the surprise package of the three is Sean Fusire, who has been a part of the first team this season.
The young midfielder has been utilised in the EFL Cup for Rohl’s side, however the 19-year-old is yet to be handed a single minute of action in the Championship.
It could be argued that Fusire’s development could be boosted in a loan spell elsewhere, as we have seen for Bailey Cadamarteri.
