One Sheffield Wednesday man has been given raving reviews after the win vs Derby County.
Sheffield Wednesday’s 2024/25 Championship season has taken a positive turn in recent weeks after two successive victories away from home for Danny Rohl’s side.
The Owls managed a 2-1 win in later fashion against Derby County, with Jamal Lowe and Barry Bannan scoring the decisive goals to take the side just five points away from the play-off spots. The latter of which bagged a brilliant goal on his 35th birthday, and made no mistake in living up to his role as the pantomime villain in front of the Derby County faithful.
Bannan managed to deliver a sense of quality at the weekend that he has been able to do throughout his tenure at the club, and as a result he has been praised of the highest order by Derby County boss Paul Warne, who has highlighted that the Scotsman is one of a kind when it comes to one key thing.

Sheffield Wednesday star Barry Bannan given one-of-a-kind praise in regards to key moment vs Derby
Owls legend Bannan scored a crucial goal at the weekend to bring the side back on level terms, and Derby boss Warne was quick to hail the Scotsman for such a strike.
Per The Star, Warne said: “If you give the opposition a chance, I think Barry is the only player on the pitch who was going to score a goal like that.
“We only conceded two shots on target and I am just disappointed for the dressing room really.”
Warne’s words don’t truly live up to the standard of Bannan’s goal, which is easily one of his best in blue & white, and it is miraculous that he is able to pull off such a fate at this age.

Sheffield Wednesday fans have Barry Bannan to thank for recent success
Ever since Rohl started his tenure in S6, there has been a real upturn in fortune for the Owls in regards to improvements, both on-and-off the pitch.
The fact that Sheffield Wednesday are not only in the Championship, but looking towards a potential, albeit unlikely, play-off push is something that many fans highlight Rohl as being the mastermind behind it, but Bannan’s name must also be named in the conversation of figures who have been so crucial in recent times.
There needs to be a real recognition of Bannan’s talents and the ever-lasting effect that his loyalty has had on the club, and if this is his last season, there will be a real dilemma for Sheffield Wednesday on how to replicate what he offers to the club.
