One Sheffield Wednesday star has gone from zero to hero after West Brom win

One Sheffield Wednesday gem has surely reinstated his place in the side after the win vs West Brom.

Sheffield Wednesday managed an incredible victory at home against West Brom, which saw the Owls come away with a well deserved 3-2 victory at Hillsborough Stadium.

Danny Rohl will be particularly pleased with the solid performances of both Josh Windass and Anthony Musaba, who both bagged brilliant goals to help their side to a well needed win.

The Sheffield Wednesday boss will have also been very impressed with the defensive display of Yan Valery, who has been praised by Joe Crann for his efforts against West Brom, as well as Akin Famewo, who has surprisingly made a significant difference at the back for the Owls.

On the defensive side, Sheffield Wednesday were much more comfortable, despite coming up against an in-form top Championship side and one player in particular was at the heart of that after a brilliant showing vs West Brom.

Marvin Johnson has gone from zero to hero at Sheffield Wednesday

There has been plenty of debate over who should be the starting wing-back for Rohl’s side with Max Lowe and Johnson being the obvious choices on the left flank.

Whilst it was expected that Johnson would be back-up to the former Sheffield United defender, Lowe hasn’t quite had the best of starts to his Owls career after making the trip across the Steel City, which has left another opportunity for the 33-year-old Sheffield Wednesday man to yet again reinstate his place in the side.

It looked all but confirmed that he wasn’t in Rohl’s plans at the start of the season, but he has been instrumental in getting Sheffield Wednesday back on track, particularly following his solid performance at home against West Brom, and it looks at this point that he has fully reinstated his spot in the team.

Does Max Lowe face a path back into the team

At this present moment in time, there looks to be very little prospect of Lowe returning to the side in a starting fashion, particularly as a result of the immense form and impact put on display by Johnson in recent weeks, and that is obviously no fault of the former Blades wing-back.

Whilst Lowe has made mistakes here and there, his start with Sheffield Wednesday hasn’t quite been calamitous like some fans have made out, it was just a case that he was taking slightly longer to settle into the side.

Whilst he has been in and out of the team, Johnson has always been an incredibly reliable option for Rohl to depend upon and that has shown to be the case once again, as at the age-of-33, he is still making a positive impact for the side.
