Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri may becoming increasingly fearful of Danny Rohl’s future at the club.
There were rumours of Championship interest in Rohl earlier this month. But now it’s been revealed that Rohl is on Sunderland’s shortlist ahead of the summer.
The Black Cats have an interim boss in place but are drawing up plans for a summer appointment, with Rohl having apparently impressed the Sunderland hierarchy following his impressive spell with Sheffield Wednesday.
Rohl replaced Xisco Munoz following his woeful spell in charge at the start of the season.
Since, Rohl has taken 12 wins from 30 games in charge of the Owls, with his side just a point from safety with eight games of the Championship season left to play.

In a recent interview, Rohl sent a hint to Chansiri that some of the club’s facilities need to improve drastically.
Rohl commented on the club’s changing rooms at Hillsborough and also the pitch, which has looked worse for wear as the season’s gone on.
“I first think of the team,” Rohl started. “They are building up a team and this it’s not just about building a team up last summer, it is over a long period and step-by step with good players. They have a good manager with a clear identity of how he wants to play. Then you look at the changing rooms, the pitch. These are all normal things, they should be normal.”

Whether he has enough money to do so or not, Chansiri needs to find a way of improving the state of affairs at Sheffield Wednesday.
Both on and off the pitch, there are some huge issues currently holding Sheffield Wednesday back and the facilities are two of the issues.
Rohl has clearly told Chansiri that he thinks the club needs better changing rooms facilities and a better pitch on which the club can play their passing, aggressive style of football, and hopefully avoid less injuries too.
Then in terms of on the pitch, Chansiri needs to allow Rohl and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell to do all the work in the transfer market, and simply fund whatever it is they want.
Again though, finances seem to be very tight at Hillsborough.
Whether or not Chansiri can give Rohl what he wants and needs this summer remains to be seen; it looks like the club needs a reset in terms of the playing staff and so improvements to the facilities could be a while off yet.
But Chansiri managed to bring in a strong backroom team for Rohl and at one point he was ready to spend big on a striker on January, so there may be more money available than most think.
