Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has hinted at Dejphon Chansiri to improve a couple of key things at the club.

In almost 10 years at Sheffield Wednesday, hiring Rohl is perhaps the best thing that Chansiri has ever done.

In a season that looked all but over after the opening 10 games, Rohl has put nearly 40 points on the board, and the Owls could yet finish in the mid-table pack.

It’s been an unprecedented turnaround in form and huge credit must go to Rohl.

But the German faces an uncertain future with Championship interest in Rohl and the threat of relegation to League One bound to see him leave Hillsborough in the summer.

Dejphon Chansiri has a huge summer ahead at Sheffield Wednesday

Whether or not Rohl leaves, the coming summer is another pivotal one for Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday, who has a lot of bridges to rebuild with the fanbase.

Not only that, but he’ll have to keep Rohl or whoever the next manager is happy.

And Rohl has already told the controversial Owls owner two things he can do to potentially keep him happy.

Speaking to The Star, Rohl hinted that Chansiri needs to make the facilities at Sheffield Wednesday better, specifically the changing rooms and the pitch at Hillsborough.

Rohl said:

“I first think of the team. They are building up a team and this it’s not just about building a team up last summer, it is over a long period and step-by step with good players. They have a good manager with a clear identity of how he wants to play. Then you look at the changing rooms, the pitch. These are all normal things, they should be normal.”

Poor facilities at Sheffield Wednesday

Wednesday’s iconic Hillsborough stadium has long been in need of a revamp.

Not only that, but the club’s Middlewood training ground facility isn’t exactly state-of-the-art, so there’s a lot to improve behind the scenes at Sheffield Wednesday.

Rohl has worked with some top clubs in the past and their facilities would’ve been top notch, and Rohl will know exactly how much having better facilities can improve a team and attract more top players.

And on to the pitch; this has been a talking point as the season’s gone on.

The Hillsborough turf has looked worse for wear in recent weeks. Having a poor pitch will contribute to injuries within the playing squad and it’ll also prevent Rohl from playing the neat, passing style of play he wants to adopt at Sheffield Wednesday.

So for Chansiri, now is the time to really show the fans that he loves the club as much as he claims he does.

The club is at an absolute crucial time in their trajectory, almost a breaking point with relegation and Rohl leaving a possibility this summer, kick-starting a potentially devastating decline down the Football League in the process.
