Sheffield Wednesday’s former attacker is now a free agent.
Danny Rohl has succeeded in looking to sign both Championship experience and foreign talent ahead of the upcoming campaign.
His side managed the unexpected last season, surviving the drop on the last game of the season after three consecutive wins to stay up by three points.
However, key figures from last season including Will Vaulks have since moved on, giving the German boss the task of building up his squad again.
There’s a lot of excitement building after the attacking signings of Jamal Lowe, Olaf Kobacki and now Charlie McNeill, who has joined Sheffield Wednesday after being released by Manchester United in the summer.
However, the need for further attacking enforcement for Sheffield Wednesday is still prevalent, potentially leaving the door open for a former Sheffield Wednesday star who is now a free agent.

Sheffield Wednesday should go in for Ian Poveda to bolster attacking options
Sheffield Wednesday’s former attacker Ian Poveda is a free agent following his release from parent club Leeds United.
The Colombian international spent the second half of the 2023/24 season under Rohl with Sheffield Wednesday, contributing to the successful Championship season.
Poveda was unable to find the back of the net during his short tenure, however did make a positive impression on Sheffield Wednesday fans, as well as Rohl, who said to The Star: “He’s a good player with good individual quality, especially in the final third with smart passes.”
The 24-year-old was predominantly used on the wing for Sheffield Wednesday last season, however was also called upon to play behind the striker.

Should Ian Poveda’s injury record sway Sheffield Wednesday transfer decision
Poveda made an impact at Hillsborough Stadium when called upon, despite having just the one assist to show for it in terms of numbers.
However, the loan spell saw the Colombian attacker get just 10 appearances for the Owls, amidst injury concerns surrounding the former Leeds United man.
Ankle injuries have unfortunately plagued the early stages of Poveda’s career, with it looking like a recurring issue.
However, as a free transfer, it would be worth it for Sheffield Wednesday to take a gamble on the winger who has already thrived under Rohl at Hillsborough.
Sheffield Wednesday have arguably taken a chance on Josh Windass, despite a colourful injury record, as they have seen the impact he has had in big matches, especially from scoring three consecutive goals in Sheffield Wednesday final three games of the 2023/24 campaign.
Although he didn’t quite have the same impact of Windass, the signing of Poveda would make sense for Rohl as he looks to increase his attacking depth, and with a free player he has already worked with.
