One Sheffield Wednesday gem has proven to be first-team ready after recent international matches.
The Owls have undergone a fairly slow start to the 2024/25 Championship campaign, however have shown signs of bouncing back in recent games, including the recent Coventry City win.
The achilles heel for Danny Rohl’s side up until this point have been their inadequacies in front of goal, with Ike Ugbo and Jamal Lowe particularly showing signs of a lack of confidence and assurance when it comes to scoring ability.
Whilst Sheffield Wednesday have been hindered with the lack of success with the ever-changing front three, Rohl’s side have looked somewhat tight at the back, with James Beadle showing his quality when called upon in-between the sticks, whilst the defence has managed well despite the injuries and suspensions that have hampered the ranks.
Beadle in particular has proven to be crucial, and due to the fact he is on loan, there will inevitably be questions over his successor, however Rohl has managed to unearth a perfect replacement for the Brighton loanee within the academy set-up.

Pierce Charles will prove to be perfect James Beadle replacement at Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday shot-stopper Beadle has been ‘unbelievable’ since his arrival in January 2024 for a short-term loan spell from Brighton, and his brilliant performances earned him another full season in S6.
With the growing realisation that Beadle will unlikely be playing Championship football next season, Sheffield Wednesday may soon be turning towards Pierce Charles, who as a result of his recent international football action, is surely getting shaped into the most ideal replacement for the England U21 keeper.
Charles was handed his senior international debut at the weekend, and his brilliant performance has shown that he can become depended on as Wednesday’s first choice next season, despite being just 19-years-old.

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper union will get the very best out of Pierce Charles
There is nothing more important at a young age than getting gametime at a high level and having a coach that has the confidence in you. This is certainly the case for Charles with Northern Ireland, with Martin O’Neill showing he believes the youngster to make a positive difference in-between the sticks.
However, it will also be crucial back in S6 that Charles has such high level goalkeepers around him to aid his development, from the young but ever-improving Beadle, to the highly experienced shot-stopper Ben Hamer.
Having a mix of experience and quality around Charles in the dressing room will certainly morph the young Northern Ireland international for the better, and there is every chance that when Beadle does move on, the 19-year-old will be more than competent when relied upon in the second tier.
