Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Will Vaulks has shared his admiration for this Owls teammate.
Sheffield Wednesday are in a good vein of form right now.
The Owls under Danny Rohl have won three of their last four to leave themselves with a three-point gap to safety, beating Bristol City 2-1 last time out.
Other wins have come against Birmingham City and Millwall, though more wins are needed in the final 12 games of the season if Wednesday want to beat the drop, especially with the teams around them also picking up points.
Up next is a crunch match vs Rotherham United, and speaking to the press, Vaulks gave another insightful interview.
Will Vaulks hails Pol Valentin progress at Sheffield Wednesday
Vaulks discussed a number of topics in his pre-match press conference today.
And one topic was his Sheffield Wednesday teammate Pol Valentin; Xisco Munoz brought the 27-year-old to Hillsborough last summer, and he’s since featured 24 times in the Championship.
Valentin has now started the last eight league games for the Owls, playing at right-back following the injury to Dominic Iorfa back in December.
And he’s impressed, with Vaulks also pointing out Valentin’s progression over the past few weeks.
The Welshman said:
“Pol’s developed a lot, I would say. He’s always had the physical attributes; very fast, strong, good 1v1 defender, but I think technically he’s come on a lot. I think like any player, you speak to anyone who experienced or inexperienced, if you get a run in the side, which he’s been fortunate to get (I mean that in the best way), but you tend to get better. You sink or swim, and I think with Pol he’s swam the last few weeks.”

Rohl’s October arrival has seen several individuals pick up their game, with Valentin being one of them.
Di’Shon Bernard has become a top Championship defender under the German. Marvin Johnson’s reemergence in the side is a key story from this season. And others including Valentin, Djeidi Gassama, and Anthony Musaba have really prevailed in the last few months.
Valentin has become a very dependable name on the right. Like Vaulks says, he’s progressed in this run in the XI; he’s been bombing up and the down the flank, with his physical attributes allowing him to get up and down effectively, and also do the defending side of his game well.
Iorfa may now have a battle to get back into the side and with his contract out in the summer, and Valentin on for another year after this season, it could be a testing time ahead for Iorfa.
