Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl will be stunned to leaned the state of his side’s away form since the start of last season.
Sheffield Wednesday achieved the unthinkable last season, beating the drop despite all the odds being stacked against them.
Xisco Munoz guided the Owls to a winless start to the season, going 13 games without claiming three points.
Danny Rohl oversaw the club’s first win; a 2-0 win against Rotherham United at Hillsborough, with Sheffield Wednesday going on to become the first team to beat the drop after going winless in their opening 13 games.
This season has started slowly. But a 3-2 win against West Brom last time out has set the Owls up for a potentially positive run of form in October, where the club is set to rack up more than 1,300 miles with four away fixtures.
And it’s on the road where Rohl faces his toughest test.

So far this season, the Owls are yet to claim a single point away from home, currently sitting dead last in the away form table in the Championship.
Last season, Wednesday finished in 20th place of the overall table and in 20th place of the away form table, eventually taking 22 points on the road.
But since the start of the 2023/24 season, Sheffield Wednesday have lost 17 away games in the English Football League.
In fact, only Rotherham United (21) and Carlisle United (19) have lost more away games in the EFL than Sheffield Wednesday since then.

How does Danny Rohl combat woeful Sheffield Wednesday away form
With Rohl, playing away from Hillsborough has often been an issue. But fans or even Rohl himself may not have known the full severity of the club’s away record since the start of last season.
Often times, Rohl sets up too attacking when playing away from home, seen in heavy defeats against the likes of Ipswich Town last season, and the 4-0 defeat at Sunderland this season.
Wednesday have looked much better in recent weeks and should arguably have won the game away at Luton Town last month.
For Rohl, it’s about keeping a balance between attacking and defensive when playing away from home, and then simply waiting for the first win to come.
Now that the Owls have that West Brom win under their belt, it’ll give them confidence to go on and grab a few more wins, with the October international break also a good time for Rohl to work with his players on the training ground even more.
