Journalist Alan Biggs has given his verdict on whether or not Danny Rohl would stay at Sheffield Wednesday should they be relegated.

Sheffield Wednesday now find themselves just a few goals adrift, having closed what was an eight-point gap to safety at the start of last month.

The 4-0 defeat at Huddersfield Town left Sheffield Wednesday, seemingly, without a prayer going into the final run-in.

But the Owls are now level on points with Huddersfield Town and could move as high as 16th with a win against Leeds United on Friday night, after a run of five-straight wins in the Championship.

And the man behind the magic is Rohl.

Danny Rohl inspires Sheffield Wednesday turnaround

Rohl is a beloved name in S6.

He’s completely won over the hearts of Sheffield Wednesday fans, with his strong showing so far in the dugout reportedly attracting Championship interest.

There’s big question marks over whether or not Rohl stays in the summer, though.

If Sheffield Wednesday go down then Rohl will surely leave. But even if the Owls stay up, there seems to be no guarantee, as we saw with Darren Moore at the start of last summer.

And giving his verdict on the 34-year-old German, journalist Biggs has suggested it will be ‘incredibly difficult’ for Sheffield Wednesday to keep Rohl in the summer, ‘whatever happens’.

Biggs posted on X:

Rohl and fan connection may be the only hope

It’s a given that Rohl could probably land another Championship job in the summer, should he want to, and arguably at a club with much big ambitions and a much more stable boardroom in place.

And it’s also a given that Sheffield Wednesday are facing another tough summer transfer window.

Several players are out of contract and there doesn’t look set to be many funds available for transfers, so it’ll be another testing summer where free agents and loans are the focus.

But what Rohl has at Sheffield Wednesday which is so unique, is an incredibly strong relationship with the fans.

He could move to any other club and he might struggle to find that.

It’s something that Rohl insisted on as soon as he arrived at the club; he makes such an effort to connect with the supporters and it seems like a very big deal for him, so that could yet play a decisive role in whether or not Rohl stays in S6 beyond this season.

Right now though the focus is on the final 10 games and on the visit of Leeds United on Friday night.

It may well prove to be Rohl’s toughest test at Sheffield Wednesday so far, though a win could lift the Owls out of the drop zone for the first time under his watch.

Kick off is at 8pm at Hillsborough and the game will be shown live on Sky Sports.
