Sheffield Wednesday succumbed to a dire 4-0 defeat away at Huddersfield Town in the Championship today.
Sheffield Wednesday went into a huge Championship clash vs Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town today.
The two have been in the bottom four for the bulk of the season so far, with the gap between Huddersfield and Wednesday standing at five points before kick off.
But a second half capitulation saw the Owls concede four, with Danny Rohl‘s side now eight points behind Town in 21st and five behind QPR in 23rd who won away at Blackburn Rovers today.
Today was by far the worst performance of the Rohl era, though little blame can be dealt Rohl’s way with a string of really poor individual mistakes handing Huddersfield all three points today.

After the game, journalist Joe Crann delivered his verdict on the defeat, and on Sheffield Wednesday’s fortunes with just 16 games of the season left.
And although 16 games is still a lot (48 points still to play for), it’s just so difficult seeing where Sheffield Wednesday might pick up enough points.
Not only that, but the Owls have to also rely on Huddersfield and QPR dropping points, and the likes of Stoke and Birmingham City too, but judging by today’s performance at the John Smith’s Stadium, Sheffield Wednesday look by far the worst team in that current relegation picture.
Home form will obviously be huge for the Owls. Wednesday have taken 16 points from a possible 45 at Hillsborough this season, compared to just seven from a possible 45 on the road.
So every game at home will be crucial for the Owls who next see Birmingham City head to South Yorkshire; Blues are picking up form under Tony Mowbray but lost 1-0 away against Midlands rivals West Brom in the Championship this afternoon.
But before then, Sheffield Wednesday once again face Coventry City, this time at the CBS Arena in an FA Cup fourth round replay on Tuesday night.
After such a woeful performance today and with a fresh relegation fear in mind, Rohl may opt to rest a lot of players in midweek so that they’re all fresh for the Birmingham City game, with Blues having no game before next weekend.
