Sheffield Wednesday handed Danny Rohl worry as Owls boss tipped to be ‘great fit’ for available job

Sheffield Wednesday fans hold Danny Rohl in very high regards. But the Owls faithful may now be fearful of another club poaching the German.

Sheffield Wednesday appointed Danny Rohl in October last year. The former Bayern Munich and Germany no.2 has since overseen 58 games and has won 24, rising to fame last season when he steered the Owls to safety in the Championship.

During the summer, Hull City and Sunderland were linked with Rohl. But Rohl signed a new contract at Sheffield Wednesday which keeps him at the club until 2027.

However, Rohl has shown some frustrations in the media over the last few weeks. He’s clearly frustrated about the limitations of his side and so a tempting job offer could quite easily see Rohl move on.

Danny Rohl would be a ‘great fit’ for Leicester City, says Rob Staton

Leicester City have just sacked Steve Cooper after five months in charge, despite the Foxes sitting in 16th place of the Premier League table.

Speaking on Football Heaven, BBC pundit Rob Staton has now tipped Rohl to be a ‘great fit’ for the Leicester City job, but played down the possibility of the Foxes actually making a move for Rohl.

Staton said: “I’d be surprised if he wouldn’t be tempted. Danny Rohl is an ambitious manager, and it’s a Premier League job, so I think most managers in the Championship would be looking at that and thinking; if there was a chance to go there, they would seriously consider it.

“I think he would be a great fit for Leicester City. I’d suspect he probably won’t get the job, that they’ll go for somebody else.”

Sheffield Wednesday already handed Danny Rohl to Leicester City worry

The Leicester City job will no doubt attract a lot of attention. But the Foxes have set their sights quite high with reports stating that they want Graham Potter, as they did in the summer.

However, in what might be bad news for Sheffield Wednesday, Potter reportedly doesn’t want the job, and nor does David Moyes according to Sky Sports.

As the Foxes run out of options, someone like Rohl may quickly come into contention. There’s no official link just yet but it would be foolish to assume that Leicester City aren’t scouring the Championship for potential options, and that Rohl wouldn’t be tempted, like Staton suggests.
