Sheffield Wednesday play away at Sheffield United on Sunday, and for Max Lowe, it’ll be a particularly important game.
Of course, the Steel City derby is the biggest game of the year for both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday when it rolls around.
On Sunday, the two teams meet at Bramall Lane, marking the first Steel City derby since 2019, with Owls fans more optimistic following Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Norwich City on Tuesday.
Danny Rohl’s side bounced back from their 6-2 defeat against Watford at Hillsborough last weekend. But they’ll need a huge performance to beat a United side currently sitting in 2nd place of the Championship table.
For Sunday, Rohl has a few selection calls to make, particularly in defence with the back-line having a few injuries right now.
Akin Famewo is unavailable for Sheffield Wednesday. Michael Ihiekwe could also miss out, whilst Dominic Iorfa has been given the all-clear to play against Sheffield United.

Max Lowe tipped to start for Sheffield Wednesday against Sheffield United
Following the injury to Famewo, summer signing and former Sheffield United man Max Lowe has been playing as a left centre-back.
And in games against Brentford and Norwich City, Lowe has impressed in that position.
So much so that The Star‘s Alex Miller has backed Lowe to keep his starting spot for the game at Bramall Lane this weekend, after handing the 27-year-old a 7/10 rating for his performance against Norwich.
Miller wrote: “You can see the benefit of his left foot in that slot. So calm and measured in possession.
“A really classy addition to the squad – we say keep him there for Sunday.”
Following his release by Sheffield United last summer, Lowe has since featured 10 times for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship this season, matching the amount of Premier League games he played for the Blades last time round.

What has Max Lowe said about his move to Sheffield Wednesday?
Of course, when Lowe moved to S6 during the summer, it stirred some debate in the city.
After signing, Lowe spoke out on his move to Sheffield Wednesday and about the Steel City derbies coming up this season.
He said at the time: “Yeah I knew it would create noise, but once I’d spoken to the lads and especially with the gaffer, it made my decision really easy.
“There’s no secret how big the rivalry is, but the manager made me aware of what he expects from me.”
He added on the derby matches: “Yeah it should be a good one and hopefully we beat them.”
After he joined Wednesday, Sheffield United fans shared poor reviews of Lowe on social media. Though he’s certainly looked good in the last couple of games in this new role, and he could play a key role for the Owls this weekend.
