Sheffield Wednesday signed twelve players in the summer transfer window as they prepared for life back in the Championship.
Sadly for Wednesday, so far this has not gone to plan, with the Owls currently sitting bottom of the second tier.
Wednesday did miss out on some signings though, some players who looking back could have definitely improved them.
Here we look at three players Wednesday were linked with signing over the summer transfer window, who have gone on to start this campaign very well for their respective teams.
Jordan Storey
Jordan Storey was linked to a return to Wednesday in the summer having spent the second half of the 21/22 season on loan at Hillsborough.
He made 21 appearances that season, scoring two goals. He has become a regally for his club Preston North End since that move, and has made 14 appearances in the Championship this season with Preston sitting in fifth.
Chiedozie Ogbene
Chiedozie Ogbene was yet another Rotherham United player who looked set to make the move to Sheffield, as he was linked with a move a few weeks after promotion was secured, as he was reportedly on former manager Darren Moore’s wanted list.
The Republic of Ireland international ended up moving to newly promoted Premier League side Luton Town, and has scored once in 12 appearances in the top flight.
Safe to say he probably has no regrets about not moving to Wednesday.
Brooke Norton-Cuffy
Brooke Norton-Cuffy was also linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday in June under former manager Darren Moore.
The Arsenal right-back ended up joining fellow Championship side Millwall on loan, and has impressed for the Lions.He particularly impressed in their 4-0 win over Wednesday just before the November international break.
