Former Sheffield Wednesday man Adam Reach remains without a club, following his West Brom release at the end of last season.
Sheffield Wednesday signed Adam Reach from Middlesbrough in 2016, paying a reported £5million for the now 31-year-old.
He made 230 total appearances for the Owls, scoring 24 goals during his time at Hillsborough, with many of his goals being spectacular ones.
Reach developed a reputation for scoring wonder strikes and earned himself a free transfer to West Brom in 2021, following his Wednesday release.
He suffered numerous injuries during his time with the Baggies, limiting him to 78 appearances before he was again released at the end of last season.
Still without a club, Reach has been on trial with Swansea City recently, as he looks to make a return to the second tier.
Adam Reach opens up on life as a free agent
In a recent interview, Reach opened up on the life of a free agent footballer, sharing his emotions and struggles in finding a new club.
He’s quoted as telling the Football League Paper: “We’re in a weird kind of paradox situation right now.
“The longevity of a player’s career is going up because we can all stay fitter for longer. But at the same time, there’s been a shift in transfer policy where the players clubs want to sign are getting younger and younger.
“Physically, I’ve still of potentially six, seven, eight years left. But when teams are focusing on players under the age of 23, that makes 31 sound quite old.”
Reach continued: “The whole world is an option for me right now. I think I’m just shy of 400 games in the Championship, but I’m not naive enough to think that I deserve to be in the Championship just because I’ve played there for the last ten years or whatever.
“If there’s an opportunity that comes up pretty much anywhere, I’d jump at the chance.
“I’m quite lean and naturally fit. Apart from last season when I tore my quad, I’ve never had any major injuries.
“In my opinion, I could play for another six, seven, eight years minimum. I just need someone to pick up the phone.”

Before Danny Rohl arrived, Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer approach was much different.
The Sheffield Wednesday of old may have considered a reunion with Reach this summer, as the Owls have often had a trend of bringing players back.
But like Reach says, clubs now want younger players, which is what Rohl and Wednesday want, shown in their signings of names like Olaf Kobacki, and the re-signing of players like Di’Shon Bernard.
Wednesday have a much better, much more exciting first-team squad now than they did this time last season, and recent results suggest that the Owls could quickly creep up the table.
And if Reach joins Swansea City, he could well go up against Sheffield Wednesday later this month, with the two teams meeting in S6 on October 22nd.
