Danny Rohl has been tipped to add this £17k-a-week star to his Sheffield Wednesday squad list.
Sheffield Wednesday left a couple of spots on their squad list open after January, with Rohl wanting space for potential free agent signings.
And a handful of names have been linked including Ravel Morrison and Nico Schulz, though neither are a target.
Rohl previously played down the Morrison rumours and has since revealed that the Owls won’t be signing Nico Schulz.
But one familiar name could be added to the squad list before the deadline next month; Callum Paterson.
Callum Paterson could return for run-in
Paterson, who reportedly earns £17k-a-week at Sheffield Wednesday, has been sidelined since December.
He was forced off early in the 2-0 defeat at Coventry City with concussion, but then a knee injury and surgery followed which has kept him out of action since.
An emerging report from The Star though says that Paterson is set to return to first-team training this month and that Rohl is likely to include the 29-year-old on his Sheffield Wednesday squad list.
The deadline to register players for the final weeks of the season is 5pm on March 28th, and The Star’s report also tips Rohl to include Jeff Hendrick and Lee Gregory.
Paterson, now in his fourth season at Hillsborough, has featured 19 times in the Championship this season with one assist to his name.
Paterson return a huge boost for Sheffield Wednesday
Paterson is a well-liked player among fans and someone who can really compliment the Rohl style of play.
He’s a work-horse on the pitch; Paterson will run and run and put in the tackles, making him ideal for the high pressing and fast-pace Sheffield Wednesday side under Rohl.
What’s more is that Paterson is a very versatile player too, so should players in either the wing-back or attacking positions pick up an injury late on in the season, Paterson can cover.
And having him back will only add depth to what is an already-firing front-line at Wednesday.
The Owls have won their last four now and are looking strong as they vie to break out of the drop zone and push up into the mid-table regions.
And a fit and firing Paterson back in the side can only bolster the Owls’ survival hopes.
